Representative concentration pathways (RCPs) are possible future trajectories of greenhouse-gas concentrations and radiative forcing, while global warming levels (GWLs) are increases in global mean temperature relative to pre-industrial conditions. The values of climate indicators in the past were computed using a 1991–2020 reanalysis, while values for the future (RCPs and GWLs) were computed using the reanalysis together with projected changes from a set of CMIP5 climate-model chains.
